Hey y'all,
I picked up a 2001 yz250 a few months back, smokes like a demon, and has oil dripping from every joined part of the exhaust manifold but that's not exactly why I'm here (yet).
The shift lever got stuck all the way down and wouldn't come up. It seemed the bolt holding the shifter on might've been too loose; I repositioned the shifter back in place, tightened it up and thought I was good to go until it happened again. Took it all the way off and the teeth on the shifter assy and lever itself are definitely worn, but not sure if maybe I can just get away with replacing the lever, as replacing the whole shift assy seems like a pain beyond my skill/patience. Here are some pics of both (and the bike for the admirers) what's everyone's thoughts?
